MyFitness

MyFitness is constantly looking for new ways to challenge itself, so it only makes sense that for a while now our list of classes includes two concept classes developed by MyFitness: MyFit Abs and MyBeat.

We asked our fitness class instructor in Estonia Eva Ottas to tell us more about the MyBeat classes that have become an instant hit among the visitors of MyFitness clubs.

I constantly get asked about new and exciting classes. Everybody is looking for something fun and unprecedented! The thing is, our anatomy remains the same and the classic exercises are relatively similar. Every now and again someone invents a new machine, but essentially we keep using the same old dumbbells, barbells and kettlebells.

It can be difficult to come up with something exciting and practical at the same time, because not everything that is new and interesting has longevity – it might be nice to participate in an unusual class a couple of times, but would you go to it, say, for three years in a row?

In all honesty, I have seen pretty much every single type of training there is that can be turned into a fitness class, and the MyFitness offer includes classes for both strength and cardio, as well as for the body & mind.

The only thing missing on our list of classes was something that could be labelled as ‘fun’ – a high-intensity workout with a high level of energy consumption that would also be fun, a little different, and a lot more energetic and musical.

At this class, you are the rock star!

Kristi Roosimägi,
MyFitness fitness class instructor

MyFitness instructor Kristi Roosimägi and I we were brainstorming about what this new and exciting class could be when the idea of MyBeat, the original fitness concept by MyFitness, was born. At the class, we use real drumsticks, which ensures efficient training of the upper body, while keeping the lower body active.

The soundtrack includes 11 songs from melodic pop to explosive rock. We are working hard with our upper body and core, while feeling it in our arms and triceps as well due to actively beating with the sticks. Participating in the class feels a lot different to what it might look like to an outsider.

I have never played drums myself but the class gives me that euphoric feeling that every real drummer must feel when performing on stage with their band.

I’m confident that MyBeat classes will make anyone feel like a rock star. Just imagine that you are a drummer on stage and go to town! There are no limits. The harder you beat, the more energy you use up.

There is no wrong way of doing it. Even if you mess up, it will become a part of your own interpretation of the song. Just keep going and put your heart into it! The most important thing is that you leave the class in a good mood, which is exactly what MyBeat is about.

Even if you are not confident in your ability to keep rhythm, it is still worth giving it a try.

Developing your sense of rhythm will be helpful in other areas of life. This is why MyBeat is the perfect class for improving not only your overall physical shape, but also your coordination and sense of rhythm.

MyBeat classes are available at the following MyFitness clubs:  BoleroDominaOlimpiaGalleria RigaMatīss.   The class is soon coming to the rest of the MyFitness clubs!

Did you know that…

…rhythm plays a significant role in a person’s life?

Our first encounter with rhythm is our mother’s heartbeat, which we hear from inside her belly. From this moment on, rhythm is an integral part of our life. It is believed that music and rhythm can aid in restoring and improving damaged brain functions. At the same time, rhythm is also part of our basic functions, such as pulse, breathing, etc. Thus, this fun class with drumsticks can have a more profound impact on your well-being than expected.
